Lookout Litterbugs!

Keep the litter off our streets! A new statewide program entitled Swat-A-Litterbug has taken the North Carolina roadways by storm. This unique educational effort to keep motorists from trashing our beautiful streets is headed up by the North Carolina Department of Transportation Office of Beautification Program. The program is an attempt to spread the word that littering North Carolina roadways is not an acceptable behavior. Swat-A-Litterbug is asking citizens to get involved by informing the Office of Beautification Programs when they see a person littering. You can contact the Swat-A-Litterbug campaign office by:
· Email
· Mail in the Swat-A-Litterbug card
· Call 1-877-368-4968

After the litterbug information has been received, the motorist will be notified of their offense, informed of their penalties for littering, and urged to stop littering the streets. The Swat-A-Litterbug program is an excellent way to get all citizens involved in helping protect North Carolina’s environment.
